The Fated Ship

The boat came in beside the dock,
the water splashed and foamed,
the people cheered and gazed in awe,
at this gigantic ship

First class as always boarded first
and after that the rest
Children clung to Mothers hands,
everyone dressed in their best

Seagulls in the fresh cold air glided to and fro
everyone from everywhere came to see the show
The walls so white
the dishes new
the people all dressed up
the murmur of excitement grew as they all qued up

Finally, last person on
then they closed the doors
the final ticket counted
the final hug goodbye
then the Ship began to sail
on its first and final journey against the sky.

Love

Today I love no one
Tomorrow the same,
but in a few years
I would'nt be to blame
for in a few years
when we both know our selfs
We'd exchange rings
We'd hear Wedding bells.

Life

Life is a memory.
Expect for the present
which turns to a memory so fast We almost miss it.

The time machine

Everyone has their own time machine...
Memorys to take you back,
Dreams to take you forward.

The Difference

While I sit here doing my make up,
You are out there combing your fingers through your hair.

The warm water rinses the sweet smelling shampoo from my hair,
the rain washes the grime from yours.

I change into my dressy clothes,
while you are wishing for another blanket.

I take my money off the dresser and get ready to go out,
you beg for money with your worn paper cup and long to come in.

Christmas

The Christmas tree went up again,
as the day was drawing to a close,
excitement filled our house,
but no one mentioned that Child thst We had lost,
instead We talked Our voices full of cheer,
and as we sat to dinner on the day when Christmas came,
We took to remember that child,
as the sparkling flame that burned upon those Christmas lights and helped to cook the food,
and everything we remembered about her was good,
and I remembered how I used to hold her on my knee,
I looked up then and saw her,
as an angel on the Christmas tree.

The Great Ship

I saw it from the window,
I glanced up and saw the land,
It was the first land I had seen in six weeks
since the green hills of home,
Ireland,
not our land, my land,
but since the great hunger my land had been lost,
lost to skeletons that walked and disease that had a coach,
now here I am in Boston,
the place of peoples dreams,
here things would be better,
or so it seemed...
The great ship pulled into the docks and I was checked for lice,
the smell of salt was nice nice compared to the smell of death
and the smell of rotting food,
This land would be Great,
Yes America would be good.
